這首"High And Dry"是The Bends裡的首支單曲。這首歌在Pablo Honey時期就已經錄好了，但是在當時，這首歌被Radiohead駁回了，因為他們覺得這首歌聽起來實在太有Rod Stewart（洛史都華）的風格了。所以直到The Bends時，這首歌才與聽眾見面。

"High And Dry"被認為是Radiohead所有音樂裡最大眾化的一首歌，它也是現場演出時的熱門曲，但是Radiohaed已經將近十年沒表演過這首歌了。在2007年的一場訪談中，Thom Yorke聲明他並不喜歡這首歌，他說這首歌：不只是糟……而是非常糟糕（"It's not bad... it's very bad"），他也說了自己是被強迫把這首歌收進The Bends裡的。

這首歌的MV有兩個版本，分別是為了英美兩地市場而設計的。

美國版的MV由Paul Cunningham導演，場景在一間餐館裡，通過一段段的插敘與倒敘鏡頭，我們看到其中每一個顧客似乎都捲入在自己過去的故事當中：一對夫妻與餐館廚師似乎曾經捲入過一些犯罪事件（不過並未確實說明這些事件）；一個生意人的公事包裡似乎有個一些不為人知的秘密。到最後，那對夫妻被廚師背叛了（在餐盒裡放了炸彈），生意人也被殺害了。別問我，我也看不懂！

英國版的MV由David Mould導演，整片都用黑白畫面呈現，一開始是樂團在沙漠中表演，接著就下雨了，然後結束。其實這支MV是這首歌的最初MV，不過Radiohead感到十分不滿意，所以後來才會拍了令一個版本。我也覺得這個版本甚是無聊，這種在大雨傾盆底下表演的場景不是已經老梗很久了嗎？難怪會被換掉。
